A post apocalypse

In Closed for Good? The “Retail Apocalypse” in Britain since 2005, I say the same about post offices as about banks. They used to be proud cornerstones of our town centres, outstanding buildings and essential businesses. Now many of them have been run down, shut down, and shunted off into the back corners of newsagents and petrol stations – and the remainder are up for sale.

I also touch on cinemas and theatres. This one in Margate high street has been taken over by the Salvation Army, and one in the centre of Ramsgate – not pictured – has become a church.
