Excavations Around The Sphinx And Sunset Afterglow, No Date

Excavations as a prose story is one of the oldest pieces of my work that I still have. I wrote it when I was a teenager. The title came from those of two paintings by the realist C19th Orientalist school.

If it’s the case that a writer might have one good time travel idea in a lifetime, then Excavations is mine. It was my first sort-of-published (in a now-defunct digital magazine) comic, and looking at it now, I think visually I tried too hard.

I keep thinking I should go back and update and expand it. Until I do, this is it.
